Bell Gardens runners qualify for CIF

This years Bell Gardens High School track team sprinted themselves to success, while being challenged all year from difficult foes in the Almont League. With a team full of great athletes, the varsity Boys and Girls team qualified for the C.I.F. playoffs, having most of their top runners win Almont League accolades.
The team trained and conditioned exceptionally hard to become successful. All their hard work paid off as they accomplished their goal with great ease; practicing after school and pushing themselves to greater limits separated the runners from the rest of the field.

Swim Team Finishes Season Underwater
By Darlene Escobedo | Scroll Staff ReporterAs the end of the swim season approaches, they already have their sights set on next year. However, while reflecting upon this season it is evident that the team’s performance left many unfulfilled expectations.
Although the team is composed of many talented swimmers, the problem was making use of their individual talent in collaboration as a team.
Overall, swimming coach Robert Greenamyer felt, "Satisfied with individual performance, but not team performance". In his opinion this was primarily due to the presence of, "too many excuses" that ended up interfering with, "hard work and a payoff at the end."

Two Golfers Qualify for League Finals

This year’s golf team had the largest enrollment of students that it has had in the past seven years. And after a tough hit and miss season, golf has finally come to an end, having some golfers perform well and others not live up to par.
This years team was led by 2nd team All-League junior golfer Giovanni Gonzalez, who came in 9th place in league finals. Although, Gonzales is not the only player whose future looks bright, other players to return next year are Bryan Ayala, Joe Ortega, Chris Rodriguez, and Melissa Camarena. Junior Carlos Aguirre also competed in league finals and reached the 13th spot after competition with 36 other golfers. The returning players will be joining Gonzalez and Aguirre for next year.
"I put my heart into it, yet if I had done better, then I could have made it to the top," stated Aguirre.
